He made a post on his official Twitter account that reads:

“I thank all Nigerians, especially our youths who have joined me in the mission of taking back and reuniting Nigeria. This project is yours and for the future of your children. I am just a facilitator.”

Obi is expected to contest the presidential primary on the platform of his new party.

Before he left the PDP, Peter Obi was one of the 15 presidential aspirants cleared by the PDP to vie for its presidential ticket.

The former governor was expected to contest against big names such as Atiku Abubakar, Bukola Saraki, and Nyeosom Wike for PDP’s ticket.

Naija FM reported on Wednesday that Obi announced his resignation from the party despite purchasing the N40m PDP presidential forms.

During his exit, the new LP chieftain said recent developments within the PDP had made it difficult for him to continue under the party’s umbrella.

He, however, declared that he was happy to have contributed to the growth of the country through the party.
