The 24-year-old winger who joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for an initial £96 million fee will be leaving Barcelona for free as he has refused to sign a new contract with the Catalan giants.

During his 5-years injuries-ridden spell in Barcelona, he won two LaLiga titles, two Spanish Cups, and the Spanish Super Cup with the club, scoring 32 goals in 143 appearances.

The winger’s current contract with the Catalan Giants will expire in June and no agreement has been reached between both parties.

The lofty demands of Dembele’s agent have been the major stumbling block as Barcelona are currently suffering an economic crisis and will not be able to meet up with the requested salary.

The France international has also packed his belongings out of his house in Spain and had recently put the house up for sale.

Kylian Mbappe, who now has some say over PSG’s transfers, and Dembele’s fellow countryman in PSG is reportedly keen to see Dembele join him in France at PSG.

Many big European clubs like Bayern Munich and Chelsea have shown interest in signing the France International but PSG seems to be the winger’s preferred destination.

Dembele’s departure could now pave the way for Barcelona to continue their pursuit of Leeds United forward Raphinha, who is Xavi’s desired replacement for Dembele.
