Former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has quit the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

A presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, has quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Obi, a former Anambra Governor, announced his resignation from the party on Wednesday afternoon.
The politician posted a copy of a resignation letter that he had sent to the Party’s president on his official Twitter account.
Before his resignation, Obi was one of the 15 aspirants vying for the presidential ticket of the PDP.
The former governor was set to go up against big names such as Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki; former Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi, and the Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
A few hours before tendering his resignation, Peter Obi expressed his concern about the security challenges in the southeast.
A part of his posts condemning the killings in the region reads:
“I am highly disturbed by the increasing horrific killings in southeastern Nigeria, especially the recent beheading of a state legislator and the callous murder of a pregnant woman and her four children in Anambra State.”

“These violent and abhorrent killings are damnable and unacceptable! Our communities are crumbling before us, and our humanity is being diminished.”
The politician also expressed his condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives in the killings.
