Ape Kids Football Club: John Terry’s NFTs Dumps by 90% as Players Delete Promotion Posts

  • John Terry’s NFT Collection, ‘Ape Kids Football Club’ has lost about 90% in value over the past month, as the hype surrounding the project has diminished
  • England internationals Tammy Abraham and Ashley Cole who had previously endorsed the project, have deleted their social media posts about it
  • This comes as the Premier League is set to release its own official NFT partnership worth millions of dollars

The past few months have been filled with a lot of hype about non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with a lot of celebrities buying into the booming digital market.

During that period, former Chelsea and England captain, John Terry released his own NFT collection but the project hasn’t been as successful as he would have hoped. In the past month, the footballer’s NFT collection has decreased by around 90% in value.

Pieces from the collection named “Ape Kids Football Club” were going for an average price of $656 after Launch on February 2, but by March 8, the average price had dropped to $65.

As the project falters, some of Chelsea’s alumni seem to have lost faith in the scheme, including Ashley Cole and Tammy Abraham.

The two former Chelsea players have deleted all posts relating to the promotion of the NFT from their social media pages.

The drop in value means that anyone who had purchased from the collection after its release would have lost about 90% of their investment.

The news comes as the Premier League has announced plans to release its own NFT collection. The League’s project, which could be worth millions of dollars, would be released in partnership with a digital assets company.
