The applications, which were made on May 27th, come months after Kanye publicly criticized non-fungible tokens on his official Instagram page. The rapper has since deleted the post.

The web3 patent application shows that Kanye’s company is interested in blockchain-based non-fungible collectibles, assets, currencies and tokens. The patent also mentioned online retail store services featuring downloadable movies, videos, television, music, entertainment, and digital art.

It’s unclear if Yeezy plans to use the trademarks immediately and how exactly they will be used. However, the filings were made on a 1B basis, indicating that there is intent to use the trademarks in the future but applicants don’t have to detail when it will be.

The NFT patent was filed through the artist’s Holdings company. Specifically listed in the filings are possible provision and operation of an “online marketplace for buyers of blockchain-based non-fungible collectibles, assets, currencies, and tokens.”

Adidas Yeezy is a fashion company born out of a collaboration between German sportswear company, Adidas and Kanye West.
