The Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed has ordered the immediate deployment of operatives of the Special Weapon and Tactic Team (SWAT)) trained recently.
The mandate from the IGP at the Force Headquarter in Abuja is for the operatives to immediately commence routine patrol to augment existing security measures around the country.
According to report, the IGP gave the order to the AIGs which was also forwarded to the commissioners of police in each state of the federation.
Sources within the police revealed that the deployment of SWAT is part of the police leadership’s strategy to combat the increasing rate of crimes across the country.
According to Adamu, the deployment of SWAT would be temporal, pending when they team would be assigned to their primary assignment of special operations.
