A Belgian zoo has banned a woman Adie Timmermans from visiting after discovering that she was having an affair with a Chimpanzee.
The primate called Chita arrived at the Zoo in Antwerp 30 years ago and since then he and the woman have formed a strong bond.
According to a report, Timmermans has visited Chita every week for the past 4 years interacting through the animal’s enclosure.
The woman’s statement while speaking to Newsweek can be seen below:
“I love that animal, and he loves me. I haven’t got anything else. Why do they want to take that away? We’re having an affair, I’ll just say.”
According to the news outlet, the Timmermans and Chita would wave and blow kisses at each other from opposite sides of the enclosure.

The zoo has restricted Timmerman’ access to the Chimpanzee amid fears that it was affecting his relationship with other Chimps.
“When Chita is constantly busy with visitors, the other monkeys ignore him and don’t consider him part of the group, even though that is important. He then sits on his own outside of visiting hours,”
The zoo noted that the close relationship between Chita and Timmerman is likely because he was a pet before being introduced to the facility.
