Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to social media to apologise for his reaction, after he appeared to smash a fan’s phone to the ground on Saturday.
Following United’s loss to Everton at the Goodison Park, footage taken by @Everton Hub shows the forward lowering his right hand towards the ground and a phone colliding with the ground.

Ronaldo’s latest post on Instagram says:
“It’s never easy to deal with emotions in difficult moments such as the one we are facing. Nevertheless, we always have to be respectful, patient and set the example for all the youngsters who love the beautiful game”
The Portugal national team captain then proceeded to invite the supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford, to demonstrate fair play and sportsmanship.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s outburst on the pitch appears to be a result of s shocking 1-0 defeat to Frank Lampard’s relegation-threatened side. The defeat has put a serious dent in United’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
