Popular betting platform, Bet9ja has become the victim of a cyberattack from suspected Russian hackers, which has denied users access to the account.
The betting giant first announced that it was having challenges with its website on Wednesday. According to its official Twitter account, the challenge prevented users from logging into their accounts.
On Thursday, however, the company disclosed that its website had been hacked by cyber attackers. It added that experts were working tirelessly to get the website back up and confirmed that customers’ funds are secure.

The company also released a statement via media platforms to apologize to customers. It has also promised to reward loyal users with several promotions when the situation is resolved.
The attack comes after a release that was issued by the United States, stating that malware was being removed from computer networks all around the world, in a bid to prevent Russian cyber attacks.

The US said that the malware removed allowed Russians to create botnets that are infected with malicious software and controlled by the Russian military.
Bet9ja is yet to ascertain if the hack was a result of an attack from Russians or other cybercriminals.
