UK Cancels COVID 19 Test and Other Travel Restriction After Vaccination Success

  • The United Kingdom will no longer require you to provide evidence of COVID 19 test or proof of vaccination before entering the country
  • The country’s latest “Travel Abroad” guide reveals that all travel restrictions relating to COVID have been removed
  • Incoming travelers now only have to fill in a UK passenger locator form upon arrival in the country

The United Kingdom has announced that it would remove all current COVID 19 travel restrictions for passengers from today, Friday, March 18, 2022.

A statement that was released on the government’s website earlier this week noted that the remaining restrictions for international travelers were being removed ahead of the Easter holiday.

The new rule will allow passengers from Nigeria and other countries to enter the United Kingdom with showing evidence of a COVID 19 test of proof of vaccination.

According to the guideline, the only requirement for travelers is to fill in a UK passenger locator form before traveling or after arriving in the country.

The new guideline reads:

“If you will arrive in England from abroad after 4 am, Friday 18 March, you do not need to take any COVID 19 test. Before you travel or after to arrive, fill in a UK passenger locator form.”

The statement says that the decision was taken by the government following the success of the UK’s vaccine and booster, with 86% of the population receiving at least 2 doses of the vaccine and 67% having collected the booster shot.
