FG has stressed that the donation will strengthen the country’s vaccination efforts as it looks to vaccinate more of Nigeria’s eligible population. The vaccine donation was confirmed by Dr. Faisal Shuaib, the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
During the handover of the vaccines, Dr. Shuaib said:
“I am pleased to welcome and inform you that the government of Japan through the COVAX facility has donated 859,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine and 175 Solar Direct Drive refrigerators to aid COVID 19 response in Nigeria.”
Dr. Shuaib went on to thank Japan for its donation. He also noted that the Solar Direct Drive refrigerators have since been deployed to 24 states, based on vaccine coverage.
