The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi has given a shocking update about the COVID 19 virus in the state on Friday.
In a report about the virus on Facebook, it was disclosed that 506 COVID related deaths have been recorded.
Abayomi stated that 11 people died from the virus on Aug. 20, bringing the total deaths in August to 122.
The 11 deaths on Friday is the highest that has been recorded in Lagos since the start of the pandemic.
The health commissioner also revealed that 239 new cases were recorded on that day, taking the total infection in the populous state to 70,563.
At the moment, 4,387 active cases of the COVID 19 virus in the state are receiving treatment in the state’s home-based care.
Meanwhile, the state has stepped up efforts in the battle against the third wave by starting the second phase of vaccination.
