Shocking Update About COVID 19 in Lagos

• The total number of people that have died from COVID 19 complications in Lagos has hit 506, according to a report by the State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi

• Between August 1 and 20 alone, the state has recorded 122 out of the 506 total deaths, having been hit by the more severe delta variant

• The health commissioner also revealed that 70,563 COVID cases have been recorded in the populous state and 4,387 of those remain active

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi has given a shocking update about the COVID 19 virus in the state on Friday.

In a report about the virus on Facebook, it was disclosed that 506 COVID related deaths have been recorded.

Abayomi stated that 11 people died from the virus on Aug. 20, bringing the total deaths in August to 122.

The 11 deaths on Friday is the highest that has been recorded in Lagos since the start of the pandemic.

The health commissioner also revealed that 239 new cases were recorded on that day, taking the total infection in the populous state to 70,563.

At the moment, 4,387 active cases of the COVID 19 virus in the state are receiving treatment in the state’s home-based care.

Meanwhile, the state has stepped up efforts in the battle against the third wave by starting the second phase of vaccination.
