
COVID 19 Worry in Nigeria Continues as 7 Deaths are Recorded

Nigeria recorded 7 deaths from COVID 19 complications on Wednesday, August 24, which brings the country’s total death total to 2,288

The country also recorded 637 new cases across the 25 states where testing was carried out on Friday

Since the start of the pandemic last year, 188,880 people have tested positive for the virus while 169,382 have been discharged from quarantine facilities
Nigeria’s battle against highly infectious disease COVID 19 continues as the country recorded 637 new cases on Wednesday.
The spread of the virus in the country has become more evident since the emergence of the more transmissible delta variant.
The latest daily infection is slightly lower than the 655 cases that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported the previous day.
3 states (Lagos, Rivers, and Edo) were responsible for almost 70% of the total recorded cases.
Lagos led the way with 322 new infections, while Rivers daily infection stood at 70.
Edo and Delta completed the top 4 in recorded infections with 54 and 34 respectively.
Akwa Ibom and Kwara followed as both states recorded 31 new infections after testing.
The Federal Capital Territory had 29, Ekiti (17), Ogun (14), Osun(10) while 8 new infections were recorded in Kebbi state.
Cross River state had 5, Plateau (3), Taraba (3), Kaduna (2), Bayelsa (2). Benue, Enugu and Kano reported 1 new case each.
Six states, Gombe, Kano, Nasarawa, Oyo, Sokoto, and Zamfara did not record any new COVID cases despite carrying out testing.

7 deaths were recorded between the last update and this one, taking the total death toll to 2,288.
At the moment, 188,880 COVID cases have been reported in Nigeria with 169,382 having been discharged.
