The minister disclosed that the country plans to develop skills in that area and will be seeking the collaboration of the North American Nation of Cuba.

The information was passed by Dr Ogbonnaya Onu in Abuja on Monday, following a meeting with Cuba’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Clara M. Paulido-Escandell.

The minister revealed that the essence of the collaboration is to create jobs and develop COVID 19 vaccine for exports.

It will be remembered that the Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Health Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora disclosed that the country was intensifying efforts to produce COVID vaccines locally.

Nigeria is banking on the relationship between the country and Cuba to work together for the benefit of both parties.

Cuba has been able to develop two COVID vaccines, Soberana 2 and Abdala vaccine with efficacies of 91.2% and 92.8% each.

While the results have not been reviewed, if the claims are proven to be accurate, Cuba will join the United States, Germany and Russia as the only countries to have developed at least a COVID 19 vaccine with over 90% efficacy.
