The country is offering its latest booster shot to the most vulnerable, with care home residents, people aged over 75, and the immunosuppressive being encouraged to get vaccinated.

According to the NHS, about 5 million people are expected to receive this 4th vaccine shot and 600,000 have been advised to schedule vaccination appointments for this week.

Speaking on the issue, Health and Social Care Secretary, Sajid Javid reinforced the importance of vaccination for society.

He said:

“Our phenomenal vaccination programme has saved countless lives and built a wall of defence which has allowed us to learn to live with Covid,”

The country’s decision to offer shot of the  COVID 19 vaccine comes as it experiences the damaging effect of the Omicron variant. At the moment, about 5% of England’s total population is infected with the virus.
