Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky has pleaded to negotiate directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin, claiming that World War 3 could happen if both countries fail to reach an agreement.
In an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria on Sunday, Zelenskyy said he’s “ready” to meet with the Russian leader as negotiations are crucial to the ending of the war between both countries, which has been on since February 28.
In the interview the Ukrainian leader is quoted saying:
“If there’s just 1% chance for us to stop this war, I think that we need to take this chance,”
This comes after a spokesperson for Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan disclosed that Putin is not ready to meet with Zelenskyy. It should be noted that Turkey has emerged as a key mediator in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu however told a Turkish media company that he is hopeful that a ceasefire agreement will be reached soon, according to Reuters.

Sunday is not the first time that Volodymyr has warned about World War 3. While speaking with NBC News on Wednesday, he claimed that a World War may have already begun.
Although Russian and Ukrainian delegations have held multiple rounds of peace talks, the presidents of both countries are yet to meet directly.
