21-year-old worker Catalina Torres Ibarra met death on Friday, August 6th, after being mauled to death by a tiger at a Chilean safari park.

The young woman was a staff of the park and had gone in to clean the area but her colleagues failed to warn her that the beast’s cage was unlocked.

The police reported that the woman died instantly when the big cat jumped on her and bit down on her neck.

Following the death of the young lady, there has been a lot of finger-pointing among the staff and administration of the safari park.

Finance manager Antonio Rojas claimed that the animal’s cage was deliberately left unlocked by some workers against protocol.

The workers on the other hand countered the manager’s statement, claiming that the cage was already open.

Before her death, Catalina had been working at the zoo for two years and she reportedly often gave guided tours to visitors.

Administrators have disclosed that none of the deceased’s duties involved her coming in direct contact with the tiger.
