A student of Rivers State University has reportedly killed by gunmen suspected to be cultists on August 19.

The student whose name is unknown was in the school cafeteria when the assailants stormed in and shot him in the head.
Reports claim that the student was trailed by his killers to the cafeteria in the faculty of management science at about 9:20 am.

The shooting and death of the student has caused huge panic among the students, who took to their heels immediately after the body dropped.

A spokesperson of the university, Harcourt Whyte confirmed the incident to journalists, adding that those responsible have been arrested.

He also disclosed that police have begun an investigation into the shooting.
”He died on the spot and the situation caused serious panic. Students and people started running helter-skelter and we are writing exams now.”
The incident happens at a time when the students are writing their exams and there are fears that it could cause distraction amongst them.
