Detectives from the police command in Kano state have arrested Hauwa Habibu, a mother who killed her children in Kano state. The mother allegedly stabbed her two biological children while injuring her nephew.
In a press statement on October 3, 2020, the command’s spokesperson stated that the police got a report about a mother who had attacked her two children in Gwale Local government of the state. The children are 6-year-old Irfan Ibrahim and 3-year-old Zuhura Ibrahim.
The police also stated the Hauwa, injured her 10-year old nephew Aisha Sadiq while trying to flee the scene.
After the incident, the Commissioner, Habu Sani ordered a team to sweep the area clean and bring the mother in. On getting there, the children were rushed to the hospital where two were pronounced.
The police eventually captured the suspect in the late hours of the day. The mother who killed her children admitted to the crime, stating that she used a machete and an aluminum pestle to attack them. The action was said to be as a result of her husband marrying another wife.
