In case you didn’t know, Anthony Joshua is not the only famous heavyweight boxer from Nigeria.
His huge rival, Deontay Wilder just revealed that he is he traced his roots to Edo State in Nigeria.

In a viral video on social media, Wilder revealed that he’s from Edo state, adding that he has plans to visit his tribe someday.
The former boxing champion stated that he would love to do research about his roots and learn about his ancestors.
This is not the first time that Wilder has showcased his roots even though he doesn’t hold Nigerian nationality.
In July 2020, he shared a photo on his Instagram page where he was dressed in native Nigerian attire.

It remains unknown if Wilder’s acknowledgement for his root played a part in his nickname selection.
People of Edo state are known for their bronze artefacts which can be found in various museums worldwide.

Deontay Wilder suffered his first professional defeat to Tyson Fury in February last year, losing his championship in the process.

He’ll be hoping for redemption and a chance to reclaim his title when the two face at the T-Mobile Arena on July 24.
