LeBron James Becomes 1st NBA Player Billionaire

  • LeBron James has become the first unretired NBA player to be a billionaire.
  • Lebron surpasses the record set by NBA legend Michael Jordan.
  • LeBron James is also the wealthiest NBA player.

Famous NBA star LeBron James reached the billionaire milestone, becoming the first and only NBA player to be a billionaire while still active.

Lebron James

He isn’t the first NBA player to reach the billionaire milestone as NBA legend Michael Jordan had done it.

However, Jordan only managed to reach this milestone after he had retired. James’ case is much different as he becomes a billionaire while he hasn’t yet retired.

Forbes magazine reported that LeBron James, 37, has earned more than $1.2 billion apart from taxes.

Nonetheless, the salary he earned between the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Los Angeles Lakers, which was about $385 million, placed him at the top of the list of the highest-paid NBA players.

While numerous athletes have enjoyed a luxury of wealth while still active in their various sports but ended up being broke after retirement, LeBron doesn’t seem to be one who will go in that direction. The American international has a whole lot of deals he has closed down. He is a stakeholder in the several sponsoring brands that want him to be an ambassador or partner for their products or companies.

Some of the companies he has close deals with include home fitness company, Tonai, pizza chain Blaze Pizza, and ridesharing giant Lyft.

Furthermore, LeBron James is a serial investor and is always open to investing part of his salary in companies outside the game of basketball. Some of the companies include the Fenway Sports Group, the owner of teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Red Sox, AC Millan, and some others.

He has also created his brand, SpringHill, an entertainment company that has earned him over $300 million in profits.
