Twitter Rolls Out Pinned DMs for Users

  • Twitter announced last week Thursday that it is rolling out pinned direct messages feature for users
  • The feature which was only available to the “Blue” subscribers, can now be accessed by everyone on Android, iOS, and web
  • The feature will allow users to pin up to 6 messages to the top of their DM page so that they can easily reply

Twitter is set to launch an update to its direct messaging feature, amid a wave of features updates released over the past year.

Twitter

The company announced on Thursday that it will now allow users to pin up to six messages on their DM inbox for easy access.

A post released by Twitter support reads:

“Keep your fave DM convos easily accessible by pinning them! You can now pin up to six conversations that will stay at the top of your DM inbox. Available on Android, iOS, and web.”

This comes after a series of changes that the social media company made to its DMs last year.

One of the most notable was introducing the ability to DM a tweet to multiple people at once in individual conversations. In addition to that, instead of timestamping individual messages with the date and time, it was reduced to only dates to minimize the timestamp clutter.

The changes follow Twitter acquiring two messaging companies in 2021- Sphere, a group chat app, and Quill.

Employees at both Sphere and Quill were absorbed into Twitter, with the Quill staff working on messaging.
