Twitter boss Jack Dorsey Resigns as CEO

• Twitter founder Jack Dorsey is stepping down as the CEO of the social media company

• 45-year-old Dorsey was serving as the CEO of both the microblogging platform and digital payments company Square

• The chief technology officer of the company Parag Agrawal will now take over as the Chief Executive Officer of the company

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is stepping down as the CEO of the company from today.

The chief technology officer of the social media company Parag Agrawal will take over as the CEO, the company announced on Monday.

Before quitting his role, Dorsey, 45 was serving as the CEO of Twitter and his digital payment company Square.

He will however remain a member of the board of the company until his tenure expires during the meeting of stakeholders in 2022.

The president of SalesForce and COO Bret Taylor will replace Patrick Pichette by taking over as the Chairman of the Board.

In a statement released on his official Twitter page, Jack Dorsey said:

“I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founders,”.

In an email published on Twitter, Dorsey disclosed that Agrawal was his first choice as a replacement due to his deep understanding of the company’s needs.

Agrawal who has been the CTO of the company since 2017, joined Twitter over a decade ago and has managed the company’s affairs regarding artificial intelligence and machine learning.
