The Tyson Fury retirement announcement comes after the boxer promised his wife to quit the sport
British boxing star, Tyson Fury has signaled his intention to retire from the sport after defeating Dillian Whyte. The Gypsy King knocked out his countryman in the sixth round of their battle, in front of over 94,000 people at the Wembley stadium on Saurday.
Fury retains his world heavyweight title courtesy of a super uppercut that sent his challenger tumbling to the canvas. Whyte managed to get back up but couldn’t steady his feet. This prompted referee Mark Lyson to call a TKO in favor of Tyson Fury.
The victory meant that 33-year-old Fury retained his WBC title, giving him the chance for an undisputed unification bout. However, shortly after the win, the boxing star claimed that he was set to hang up his gloves.
Fury said:
“I have to be a man of my word. I think this is it.”

The Tyson Fury retirement announcement wasn’t unexpected. The boxer had earlier claimed that he planned to hang up his gloves after the fight. The Gypsy King said that his retirement is a result of a promise that he made to his wife, Paris.
The super boxer, however, hinted that he could participate in future exhibition fights, WWE, and Mixed Martial Arts.
