Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has disclosed that his company has big plans for nonfungible tokens, including integrating them as a part of its video and photo-sharing application, Instagram.
During an appearance at the South by Southwest conference in Texas on Wednesday, the Facebook founder disclosed that the Instagram NFT integration is set to launch near term. The billionaire however failed to provide specific details about when the implementation would happen.
Meta’s plans for Instagram include allowing users to mint their own NFTs and the company plans to achieve that in the coming months, according to Platformer writer, Casey Newton.

It will be recalled that last year, Facebook and Instagram parent company rebranded to ‘Meta’ to signify interest and focus on metaverse projects. Since then the company has released its virtual world called ‘Horizon Worlds’.
Meta is also not the first social media platform with plans to integrate NFT on its platform. This comes after Twitter made a decision to implement NFT profile pictures in January. Reddit added support for NFT avatars while OnlyFans enabled profile pictures NFTs as well.
