Spotify Camp Nou: Barcelona’s Iconic Stadium Renamed as Club Inks $310 Million Deal
-
FC Barcelona’s massive stadium will be renamed “Spotify Camp Nou” from the 2022/2023 season onward
-
The club has confirmed that it has reached an agreement with music streaming platform, Spotify to become its main sponsor
-
The deal is set to be worth above $310 million and will also see Spotify replace “Rakuten” as the shirt sponsor of the male team and “Stanley” for the female team
Starting from 2022/2023, one of football’s most iconic stadiums will not be known by the same name. This comes after FC Barcelona announced on Tuesday that the club’s stadium is being rebranded as Spotify Camp Nou.
This comes after the Spanish football team signed a deal that gives Spotify the naming rights to its stadium. In addition to the stadium being named “Spotify Camp Nou”, Spotify’s name will appear on the jersey of both the male and female teams from 2022/2023 to 2026-2027 season.
FC Barcelona’s Extraordinary Delegate Members Assembly is yet to give formal consent for the deal to go ahead, but it is expected to be ratified when a vote takes place on April 3rd.
Spotify plans to use the partnership to “amplify the work of artists” in a way that unifies the world of football with music.
There’s no official confirmation regarding the value of the deal signed, but reports suggest that it is worth at least $310 million. The confirmation of the agreement comes a day after La Liga announced that the club has a negative spending limit and must generate income before making signings.
