Super Eagles Lose To Algeria as Ahmed Musa Breaks Record

The Super Eagles of Nigeria fell to a goal defeat to the Desert Fox of Algeria in an international friendly encounter on Friday 9 of October, 2020 in Austria.

Gernot Rohr, the Nigerian National Team handler has however played down the Super Eagles defeat to Algeria in the match.

Last night game made it a third straight win for the Desert Foxes over the Eagles and a record 19th game unbeaten.

And in reacting to the loss, the German tactician said it is a good test for his Nigerian side as there are positives to take from the game.

“This is a very good test for us. There are positives to pick from a tough game like this.”

Rohr further made it clear that his focus now is the next friendly against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

He added:”Now we have to recover well and start to plan for the next game on Tuesday against another tough team.”

In the same game, Ahmed Musa broke Mikel Obi’s record, surpassing the former team captain to become the third most capped Nigerian Super Eagles player.

The 27-year-old teplaced Samuel Chukwueze from the bench in the 75th minute of the game to earn him his 92nd cap for the country.

Musa went into the match on 91 caps, which placed him on level with the former captain, Mikel Obi, who had put an end to his international football with the Super Eagles after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations

The Al-Nassr forward is now only behind Joseph Yobo and Vincent Enyeama for number of appearances.
