Breaking: VP Yemi Osinbajo Joins Presidency Race as he Officially Declares

Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has finally declared to run for president, putting an end to months of speculations about his intentions.

In a video that was posted to all his social media handles on Monday, Osinbajo said:

“I formally declare my intention to run for the office of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, on the platform of our great party, the All Progressives Congress”

The VP will join a current list of APC candidates that includes former Lagos State governor Bola Tinubu, Transportation minister Rotimi Amaechi, and former Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha.

Other contestants that will be vying for APC’s presidential ticket include Kogi and Ebonyi state governors, Yahaya Bello and Dave Umahi.

Aside from his current role as the vice president of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo is a senior advocate of Nigeria. The politician who recently turned 65, is also a senior pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Before becoming the VP, Osinbajo served as attorney-general and commissioner for justice in Lagos state between 1999 and 2007.
