The federal government has repelled against the bill that seeks to scrap the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The bill proposed by the Rivers State lawmaker last week has gotten past the first reading in the House of Representatives.

The major criticism of the scheme is the risk to which fresh graduates are exposed, by travelling to other parts of the country.
Mr Abiante also argued that the scheme has failed to address its primary purpose since people can now apply for relocation to their geopolitical zones.

He claims that the scheme serves as a great tool for youth development in the state.
