2 Die as Ebute Metta Three-storey Building Collapses

A three-storey building collapsed on Ibadan Street in Ebute Metta Lagos on Sunday night. The incident was confirmed by the Head of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Margaret Adeseye, in a statement that was released on Sunday via Twitter.

Before the building collapsed

Adeseye confirmed that some people who reside in the building had been trapped and rescue operations were underway to take them out of the rubble.

“An alert of collapsed three-storey building on 32 Ibadan Street, Ebute Metta, was received around 9:48 pm on Sunday, with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service already at the scene.”

“A search and rescue operation is ongoing to rescue some of the trapped victims. It is a residential building that collapsed. More updates will be communicated.

According to Vanguard 23 people have been rescued so far in the Ebute Metta three-storey building collapse. Also, two people have been confirmed dead at the site of the collapsed building.

Those rescued so far include 22 males and one female. Meanwhile, the casualties are one male and female each.

The latest tragic incident comes 6 months after the 2021 Lagos high-rise collapse that caused the death of at least 42 people.
