Google Searches in Nigeria for April Unveiled as NIN Top Queries

According to the report, the query ‘How to Link NIN’ topped Google searches in Nigeria for April.

Other top search queries for April include ‘Osinachi Nwachukwu’, ‘Kwaku the Traveler’, and ‘Grammy Awards 2022’.
Search giant, Google, has revealed that many Nigerians were on the internet searching for a way to link their National Identification Numbers (NIN) with their SIMs, last month. According to a report which revealed the top search queries for Nigeria, ‘How Can I Link My NIN’ had the highest searches from Nigerians in April 2022.
Results for the top Google Searches in Nigeria for April also showed that many queries were made about late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu. Other top searches include ‘Grammy Awards 2020’, ‘Kwaku the Traveller’, and ‘Rita Dominic’.
Why did Nigerians make these searches?
It will be recalled that in early April, the federal government of Nigeria ordered telecommunication companies in the country to ban SIM cards that had not been linked to NINs. The order prevented outgoing calls for subscribers of unlinked mobile phone lines.
In the same month, Nigerian Gospel Singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu suffered an untimely demise. Several reports emerged stating that the talented singer was domestically abused by her husband.
Meanwhile, the 2022 Grammy Awards were held in April, and Nigerian musicians, Wizkid and Femi Kuti were major contenders for a win. The two music stars, however, failed to win any awards on the night.
