President Muhammadu Buhari has broken his silence on the killing of Dowen college’s 12-year-old boarding student Sylvester Omoroni.
In a statement that was issued by media aide Garba Shehu on Thursday, the president assured that those involved in the death of the child will not go free.
He slammed the killing of Sylvester, calling him “one of our bright youngsters doing excellently in school, bringing joy to the family”.
President Buhari urged that the death of the 12-year-old act as a trigger that will lead to a solution regarding bullying and cultism in schools.
A part of the statement reads:
“I share the anger and grief up and down the country following this incident. On behalf of my family and the government of the federation, I convey our heartfelt condolences to the Oromoni family, the government, and the people of Lagos State.”
“In furtherance, I give the firm assurance that this incident will be thoroughly investigated and the appropriate punishment meted out to all those who are culpable.”

Buhari urged the police to continue until they get to the root of the matter and ensure that justice is served.
