Dowen College: Lagos Government Orders the Shutdown of School Amid Controversy

According to reports, Sylvester was assaulted by some cult groups in the school, which led to his death
The Lagos State Government has ordered the shutdown of Dowen college in the Lekki axis, pending the time that investigations into the death of one of the school’s students Sylvester Oromoni (Jnr) are concluded.
The order was given as the government commiserated with the parents of the 12-year-old deceased kid.
The closure of the school wa stated by Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo on Friday, December 3, 2021, after a meeting with the school management.
While giving the statement, Mrs. Adefisayo urged everyone involved to remain calm as the government makes effort to get to the root of the incident.
It will be recalled that the story of 12-year-old student Sylvester Oromoni Jnr became a trend on social media after reports emerged that he was being bullied.
Media reports state that Sylvester was beaten and assaulted by some cult groups in the school.
In a viral press statement, Dowen college denied the allegations that he was beaten, instead claiming that the 12-year-old complained of hip pain after playing football.
