Banky W Wins PDP House of Reps Ticket in Lagos

• Nigerian musician, Banky W has been declared the representative of the PDP for the Eti-Osa constituency House of Representatives.

• The celebrity won the election by polling 28 votes out of the 32 cast by delegates in the primaries.

• Mr Welligton urged all contestants in the primaries to accept the delegates’ will.

Mr Olubankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has been declared the winner of the PDP primaries for the Eti-Osa constituency House of Reps ticket. The celebrity recorded a landslide victory against his opponent, securing his place as PDP’s representative at the 2023 election.

Banky W polled 28 out of 31 total votes casted by delegates during the primary election. The musician’s opponent was legal practitioner, Mr Sam Aiboni who polled only 3 votes.

The result was declared by the Returning Officer, Mr Ayodele Kazeem, who revealed that the process was peaceful and transparent.

While speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria, Banky W stated that the election was free and fair. He also added that his win was by the grace of God and the will of the people.

The singer thanked the party for giving him the opportunity to represent it and thanked members as well.

“I am overwhelmed by the support of my constituency, by the people, the ward chairmen, the leaders and the chieftains of the party.”

Banky promised to do things better in the constituency if elected and he claims that he would achieve that through transparency and accountability.

Mr Wellington will likely be going up against Babajide Obanikoro, the son of former minister of state for defence, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro. Obanikoro will be contesting for APC’s Eti-Osa constituency House of Reps ticket in the upcoming primaries.
