Nigeria Recorded 10,522 Road Crashes In 2020 – FRSC

17,614 vehicles were involved in 10,522 Road Crashes nationwide in 2020 according to the figures from FRSC

This figures were disclosed by Bisi Kazeem, an Assistant Corps Marshall speaking on behalf of the Corps

No fewer than 4, 794 persons were recorded dead while 28,449 persons sustained varying degrees of injury within the period under review

 

Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Bisi Kazeem disclosed the statics of road incidents in Nigeria for 2020 an interview with journalist on Abuja the nation’s capital.

According to him, an estimated 10,522 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) were recorded across the country involving 17,614 vehicles in 2020.

Kazeem revealed that 4, 794 lost their lives as a result while 28,449 persons 29,808 persons got various degrees of major and minor injuries respectively.

He further said that when compared to 2019, the nation has experienced a decrease in the total number of people killed by road traffic crashes in 2020.

The ACP said the major causes of these road crashes was Speed-related Violations (SPV), which according to the Corp’s observation contributed above 62 per cent of the total crashes in the year under review.

Dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overspending, driving under the influence of alcohol, traffic violation were also probable major causes of crashes.
