The Headies 2016:
The broadcast of the event began by my Nigerian time at 7:30pm, With falzthebadguy feigning a call supposedly put out to his co-host, Adesua Etomi. She made a grand entrance to the stage whilst serenading Falzthebadguy to a song. The headies 2016 was specifically dedicated to the veterans in the music industry from the 80’s and 90’s as fans saw performances from Jazzman Oloofin, Daddy Showkey, Raskimono, Aramide.

WINNERS
Best street Hiphop Artiste of the year went out to Olamide for the song “who u epp”
Winner for best reggae/dancehall single category was none other but Patoranking for the song “No kissing” ft Sarkodie
Winner for best alternative song : Bez stood grabbing this award Against Adekunle Gold, Johnny drille, Ric Hassani for the song “You suppose know.”
Winner for the best vocal performance (male)
Shaydee for the song, “smile”. It was his first Headies award and grabbed it away from the hands of Brymo, Darey art alade, Wande coal and Ric hassani on that category.
The awards for the best vocal performance (Female) went out to Simi for the song “Love dont care” against Seyi shay, Aramide, Omawumi and there again…she wasnt there to receive it as the crowd called out on falzthebadguy to come receive the award on simi’s behalf. That obviously meant a thing that there is more than just the album they both campaigned “chemistry” between them.
Winner best pop single-
Harrysong for the song “Reggae blues” up against his contenders, wizkid, Adekunle Gold, kiss Daniel, Humblesmith, D’Banj, Timaya, Phyno
winner for Best R&B single
This award went out to Darey Art Alade, for the song “Pray for me” beating Simi, Banky W, Wande Coal, TJan and Shaydee to it. Darey stole the night by going home with a second award for Best recording of the year for the song “Pray for me” against D’banj, , simi, Adekunle Gold, Brymo. Darey is also celebrating his 20 years in entertainment.
winner for producer of the year
Producer of the year went out to the wicked producer,Young John for the song Mama by Kiss daniel against other producers on this category, Dj Cuoulon, Pheels, Legendary beats, Masterkraft and Oscar Hermann
Winner Best music video – Clarence for the song soldier by simi ft falz
Winner for the Lyricist on the roll – Ill Bliss flooring Reminisce , Ycee, Boogey, A-Q, Modenine
Winner for best rap single – olamide
Winner for Best rap album- powerful by Illbliss,
Best RnB/pop album of the year- New Era by kiss daniel,
The Hall of fame award was given to legendary producer, Laolu Akin
winner for the Hip hop world revelation – Kiss Daniel
Winner for best collaboration – Soldier by Falz ft simi
Winner for song of the year- Fada fada By Phyno
Winner for the Album of the year- Kiss Daniel and this will be his third win for the night
Winner for the artiste of the year – Wizkid
Winner for the Headies special recognition – Flavour Nabania
