Marrriage Advice from Davido
The HKN star, Davido who just turned 24 on the 22nd of November may necessarily not have marriage on his agenda but has a little bit of advise to give to his fans and anyone who cares to read on his instagram page about marriage.
On his snap, Davido said “Best marriage advice: Marry your best friend”
But then it makes me wonder if his baby mama, Sophia can ever be his bestfriend with all the chaos they have been through with regards to their baby, Imadi!
But what is my business..hehe
Well, to be honest i get Davido’s advice even though its becoming cliche. I mean getting married to your best friend has become a difficult quest especially as it seem like these days people are no longer in for the long haul neither are they patient with one another when things aren’t looking out the way they envisioned it to be. You only find partners sticking in with you when the going is smooth but as soon as the slightest appearance of tough times shows up, they bail out on you. Its more or less like the part of the vows you are made to take in church which is:
“For better or worse” should be swiped away because it makes no sense saying it.
Now, here are my thoughts about marrying your bestfriend.
Its the best thing you would ever have done for your life as it will determine the depth of peace you will find even in the rockiest of time. I keep saying that love ain’t all there is to marriage because the euphoria fades like lighting bolt behind the dark clouds on a rainy day.
Who is your best friend? Its not necessarily someone who you have known for a lifetime but someone who makes you feel like you have known them and they too have known you for more than a lifetime regardless of the fact that you just met 5 secs ago. Marry someone who you wouldn’t mind waking up to every single day of the week for the rest of your life.
Lmao.. funny how i remembered what a friend told me jokingly some years back in school that she would love to marry a guy who when he is asleep at night, she would just stay up alnight looking at his face such that when he mistakenly wakes up to a face staring down at him during the wee hours of the night, his heart will be in his mouth because he might as well think she is a witch trying to suck up his soul through her eyes…
“Like who does that?”
So, yea.. marry someone you don’t mind fighting with because you know they will be fair about it. Don’t even think of marrying someone who gives their ego more importance than they give you.
Marry someone who makes you the best version of yourself and believes in you even when you don’t. If he/she stands by you through thick and thin, Marry them. If you can’t imagine your life without them, Marry them
Marry the one who knows what you want to say, when you are too tired to say it with words.
Marry that one person you can spend comfortable silence with from time to time without needing to want to fill up the silence awkwardly. Marry your soulmate; marry your bestfriend!
