Prince Meiyebi, a 27-year-old man who won N15 million in a sport betting game has been murdered in Warri, Delta State. The victim was stabbed to death by three armed men before he was left to die.
It was reported that Meiyebi was killed on November 27 at the popular Ogbe-Ijoh market while closing a shop belonging to his aunty who trades at the market.
It was gathered that the assailants stabbed him multiple times before disposing him of his mobile phone and then immediately fled the scene. The victim died before he was rushed to a hospital.
Mr Thomas Ogisi, an uncle to the deceased, while confirming the incident on Saturday claimed that the deceased had played the sport betting game a week prior to his demise and he was on his way to wining N15 million as his prediction were coming through.
It was not immediately clear if the killing of Prince Meiyebi is connected to the reported N15 million he was set to claim in the sport bet. The attackers made away with his phone, hence it is unsure if his account could be accessed.
Mr Ogisi explained that his nephew was killed at around 5pm on that faithful day but unfortunately couldn’t made it as he died before reaching the hospital. He also asserted that according to his nephew’s friends, his N15 million bet winning was due to be paid on Wednesday, but he was killed on Monday.
The Uncle concluded by demanding for justice, calling on the police to fish out his killers and that more security should be placed within the market.
