Nigerian music superstar, David Adedeji Adeleke, more popularly called Davido, yesterday lamented over the rising dollar rate in Nigeria.

The singer who recently dropped ”A Better Time,” his second studio album within the space of a year took to his Twitter account to express his frustration, saying that he was almost closed to tears when he changed dollars to naira.

Davido, given his background and successes in the music industry is known for his wealth and affluent lifestyle and has once claimed that he was even tired of making money.

However, the singer has stated that the spike in exchange rate almost brought him to tears when he changed his dollars to naira at the rate of N500 to a dollar.

Here is Davido’s tweeted

Despite the constant assurance from the Central Bank of Nigeria, the foreign exchange crisis in the nation has generated concerns in recent days as pressure continues to mount on the naira at the parallel market. Consequently, over the weekend, the naira weakened against the dollar in the black market selling at N500/$1.

This is in the wake of the apex bank’s decision to adjust the value of the naira for the third time this year. The CBN on Friday made a N6 adjustment against the dollar, thereby causing the parallel market to react in same measure.

Meanwhile we earlier reported that the Senior Special Assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu took to micoblogging platforms Twitter on Monday to clarify his statement about the 43 farmers gruesomely murdered by members of the Boko Haram sect in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Saturday.
