Shocking: Buhari Arrested For Kidnapping

• Buhari Haruna, a physically challenged man has been arrested by the police in Katsina for kidnapping

• The suspect, aged 22 was paraded by the Katsina State Police Command on Monday

• He reportedly called one Hamisu Salisu in Kankia community and threatened to kidnap him unless he paid a N2 million ransom

A man who shares a name with the president of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari has been arrested for kidnapping in Katsina.

Physically challenged 22-year-old Buhari Haruna was paraded by the Katsina State Police Command on Monday after a failed abduction attempt.

It all started on August 20, when Mr. Haruna a who claims to be a phone repairer called one Hamisu Salisu in Kankia community Katsina state to demand the sum of N2 million.

The suspect reportedly threatened to kill the victim and his family if his demand was not met.

The police command superintendent Isah Gambo stated that Buhari had disclosed that his initial plan was to kidnap the victim’s father.

He however changed his mind when he discovered that the elderly man was sick and in the hospital.

Salisu who reported the matter to the police was instructed to play along and carry out the suspect’s orders.

He dropped the money at a designated location where Buhari was waiting to pick it up. Unbeknownst to him, the police had surrounded the area and snatched him up.

The suspect was interrogated by the police and he confessed to the crime, claiming that it was his first time.
