Tuface Idibia Undergoes A Nationwide Protest Against Federal Government.

tuface idibiaAs you likely know, a massive nationwide protest against the Federal Government has been called by Nigerian foremost singer, Tuface Idibia. It would be the fist massive nationwide protest, a call for good governance, accountability and urgent explanation for the economic downturn nationwide.
According to the singer, the protest, which will hold on February 5th, was never his creation but a call to action to speak up for his people.
Tuface Idibia made the clarification in a short statement he shared with his 1.8 million followers on Instagram.
He wrote; “I am blessed to have a platform that allows me to reach a lot of people at a time. I believe this voice also comes with a responsibility to use it to speak up for my people. So, when I received the broadcasts that had been going round for some days calling for protests against the state of the country I posted it in a show of support.
My intention was never to take credit for the movement but rather amplify the voices of the organization credited with the widely circulated message.
To my colleagues that have joined their voices to this call, thank you for showing the Nigerian people they are not alone. I remain committed to contributing to the well being of my people in any little way I can. One love!

Now, there has been a press release from the body behind this worldwide protest:

NIGERIA FIRST OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT
Our attention has been drawn to a trending topic, concerning a planned protest, purportedly associated with Nigeria First.
Though Nigeria First is barely a month old, we are pleased at the level of acceptance of our essence. It is, therefore, not unexpected that people may desire to adopt us as partners in their activities. However, we are concerned that we stand the risk of being misunderstood, and possibly misrepresented, thus the need for this clarification.
Nigeria First is a non-partisan movement involving all Nigerians in the necessary task of nation building through participatory vehicles for the holistic development of Nigeria. We seek to mobilize all Nigerians to participate in creating and executing a national agenda.

Whilst we appreciate the concerns of Nigerians during these trying times, it is our belief that the articulation of a national agenda addressing our pertinent needs, as Nigerians, is imperative.

It is in the light of the above that we wish to state clearly and unequivocally that, as a body, the organizers of the aforementioned protest did not seek our endorsement. We will, however, be honored to be associated with anything that will engender good governance and patriotism, based on rule of law.
We seize this medium to invite all Nigerians to join the Nigeria First movement NOW!
