Even though music legend Dolly Parton has had a big influence on the industry, she doesn’t believe that she deserves to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The country singer announced on Monday that she wished to be removed from consideration for the honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame because she does not feel “worthy” enough.
The post from the 76-year-old star on Twitter reads:
“Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t feel that I have earned the right,”
The “Jolene” singer also added that she doesn’t want the votes to be split because of her, so she must “respectfully bow out”.
The shocking statement from the legendary country singer comes just a month after she was nominated alongside 16 others to be inducted in the Hall of Fame.

Since tendering her withdrawal from consideration, many fans have taken to social media to praise Parton for a decision, calling it a “classy” move.
