Burna Boy’s Performance in New York Stuns 20,000

  • Burna Boy has officially become the first Nigerian artiste to sell out Madison Square Garden, New York.
  • The African Giant entertained over 20,000 at the facility, while 1 million joined the show’s live stream via YouTube.

Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy tore through a breathtaking performance at Madison Square Garden in New York, becoming the first Nigerian headliner to do so.

According to entertainment analysts, Burna Boy is also the first African artist to have sold out MSG in New York.

He joins an elite list of artists such as Michael Jackson, Adele, Justin Bieber, Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, and Elvis Presley who have also sold out the Arena.

The “African giant” along with his band, the outsiders, entertained fans at the 20,000 capacity arena on Thursday.

Roughly 1 million people watched the online stream on YouTube, in addition to the audience at the arena.

The performance lasted for over two hours with Burna Boy giving the audience classics and great performances back-to-back. 

During the show, Burna Boy performed songs from his albums, “Outside”, “African Giant” and “Way too big”.

Also, he performed remixes of “Second Sermon,” Pop Smoke’s “Enjoy Yourself,” “Ballon D’or,” his latest song with Wizkid, and “Sungba” remix.


The only musical guests present at the event were Busta Rhymes who delivered a short introduction and Senegalese legend, Youssou N’Dour, who opened the performance with his song “New Africa,” and “Level Up”. 

Snippets of the performance have gone viral since Thursday. The most popular ones being his performance of Asake’s “Sungba” and Black Serif’s “Second sermon”.

Burna, real name, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, appears to have extended his art to every corner of the planet, propelling the African continent forward.


In addition to this feat, Burna Boy has also sold out the 20,300-seat Accor Arena in Paris twice, the 13,000-seat 3Arena in Ireland, and the 9,500-seat Geneva Arena in Switzerland on the recent European tour.
