In the first three months of 2022, TikTok beat Instagram and Facebook to rank as the most downloaded app worldwide.
According to a report from Sensor Tower, the video-focused social networking app was the most downloaded between January and March 2022.
The Sensor Tower’s findings are based on a per-user basis, which implies that each Apple or Google account is only counted once. Also, only downloads from the Google Play Store and App Store were included in the estimate.
TikTok was downloaded over 175 million times in the first three months of 2022, according to the Store Intelligence Data for Q1 2022 report.
Since 2018, no app has surpassed TikTok in terms of downloads as it has garnered over 3.5 billion in total downloads. It is the fifth app to reach this milestone and the first that is not under Meta.
Tiktok is one of the most trendy and in-demand social media networks in the world. It is widely known for its timely trends, proprietary algorithms, and unique features for users.
Some other features such as interactive add-ons for in-feed adverts and private dislike button for comments were also added recently.
In Asia, TikTok grew by 11% from the previous quarter. Even though it was one of 59 Chinese apps banned by India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in June 2020 due to national security concerns.

According to Sensor Tower’s analysis, the top five most downloaded apps from January to March 2022 are TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Telegram.
In the United States, YouTube and HBO Max made it to the top five, leaving WhatsApp and Telegram out. However, TikTok retained the number one position in the United States, Europe, and worldwide.
