Nigeria’s national electricity grid has collapsed, officials disclosed on Monday. Eko Electricity distribution and other power distributions in the country reported zero generation from the grid, leading to a power outage in the country.
A statement that was sent out to customers on Monday reads:
“Dear esteemed customer, we regret to inform you of a total system collapse on the national grid at 10:40 am today, leading to outages across our network.”
The distribution company revealed that it was closely monitoring the situation with TCN partners to determine the cause of the outage and a timeline for resolution.”
A statement that was released by Kaduna Electricity company on Monday also apologized to customers for the national grip collapse.

A report by THISDAY reported that the national power grid collapse has caused an energy loss of 1,100 megawatts. This represents a drastic energy drop from the 3,700mw peak generation recorded earlier.
The analysis revealed that Azura-Edo IPP (Gas), Shiroro hydropower, Trans-Amadi were among the plants to have been affected by the energy loss.
