World’s Most Valuable Football Clubs: Real Madrid Retains No 1 Spot in Latest Ranking

A report published by Analyst Football Benchmark ranked Europe’s 32 most valuable football clubs, calculating their worth based on their annual financial statements and squad values.

Most valuable football club

Spanish giant, Real Madrid was ranked Europe’s most valuable club following the publication.

The 13 times UEFA Champions League (UCL) winners hold the number 1 spot for the fourth consecutive year with a valuation of 3.184 billion euros.

In 2020, just before the pandemic, Real Madrid was valued at about 3.5 billion Euros, and now they are valued at about 3.184 billion euros. This shows how well they have recovered despite losing 84 million euros due to the absence of matchday revenues during the lockdown.

Andrea Sartori, the author of the report wrote that: 

“Real Madrid have extended their lead at the top due to continuous sporting and commercial success.”

Other teams ranking high on the list are:

  • Manchester United (2.9 billion euros)
  • Barcelona (2.8 billion euros)
  • Bayern Munich (2.56 billion euros)
  • Liverpool (2.56 billion euros)

Also, of these 32 most valuable clubs, Only four football clubs; Ajax, Galatassary, Porto, and Benfica are outside the five big European leagues of England, Germany, Spain, France, and Italy.

On the other hand, 10 English clubs made the top 32 list thanks to increased success in European competitions and their buoyant financial standings.

In conclusion, the report is evidence that football is gradually recovering from the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic.
