The Brazilian police have confirmed the arrest of a man that is suspected to have hacked into Neymar’s bank accounts and stolen a total of $40,000.
The alleged hacker who reportedly worked at one of the banks that the footballer uses, stole the more in small sums till he gathered more than $40,000.
A police statement that was released on Wednesday claims that a 20-year-old was arrested for “defrauding bank clients”. Although the name of the affected client was not officially disclosed by the police, the officer-in-charge claimed that Paris Saint Germain star Neymar was the victim.
The officer, Fabio Pinheiro Lopes explained how the alleged theft occurred on a Brazilian TV show, “Brasil Urgente”. According to Pinheiro, the hacker got the password of one of his colleagues and stole money from various high net worth individuals.

Those affected didn’t notice initially as he made small transfers of $1912 twice, and several other little money movements, until it amounted to $40,000.
When Neymar and his father discovered the transfers, they called the bank and they were reimbursed as the hunt for the culprit began.
Neymar’s press officer has failed to comment on the issue when he was contacted, according to Reuters.
