EFL Cup Round 4: Chelsea and Manchester City Get Tough Opponents

• Chelsea who managed to scale through against Aston Villa on penalty gets another EPL team in Southampton

Manchester City will continue their defense of the EFL Cup by making a trip to London, where they face West Ham United.

The Premier League champions advanced to the 4th run of the competition after a 6-1 rout of Wycombe Tuesday.

The 8th time EFL champions have a chance to register their name as the team with the most EFL trophies if they emerge victorious this season.

Meanwhile, premier league rivals Chelsea and Arsenal were also handed tough draws, going into the next round of the competition.

Chelsea will take on Southampton after the Champions League winners barely called through against Aston Villa on Wednesday.

Chelsea won in a penalty shootout after Timo Werner’s headed goal in the 54th minute was canceled out by Archer’s magnificent header 10 minutes later.

On the other hand, it was an easy win for Arsenal who won 3-0 at the emirates against Wycombe. They will now face Leeds in the fourth round.

Liverpool has it easier, facing Preston Northend after their win against Norwich.

Manchester United remains the only top-6 side to have been knocked out of the competition after a 0-1 loss to West Ham United.
