The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a collaboration with leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance, which will make the latter the official sponsor of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021 tournament.
The blockchain and crypto company will bring its technology and brand to African football in the football event which is set to run until February 6, 2022, in Cameroon.
The ground-breaking partnership marks the first time that the exchange will sponsor a large-scale football event. The partnership also makes Binance the exclusive cryptocurrency and blockchain platform for the tournament.
The partnership deal includes sponsorship of Assist of the Day, Assist of the Week, and Assist of the Tournament across CAF’s social media channels.

In a statement that was released by CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba, he described the deal as one that will connect cryptocurrency to the African community through football and welcomed Binance as the sponsor.
The TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations is Africa’s biggest football tournament and this year’s event will see 24 countries compete for Gold in West Africa.
