The group stage draw for the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar was held on Friday, April 1, 2022, as the fates of participating teams were decided.
After the draw in the DECC venue in Doha, the international football association has disclosed the cash prizes for teams participating in this year’s tournament.
The prestigious football competition has been made more interesting with a $440 million prize set to be split among participating teams. This is a slight increment from the $400 million that was shared among participating teams at the Russia 2018 World Cup.
The lucky winner of the 2022 World Cup will receive $42 million in prize money while the runner-up will be awarded $30 million.

The full reward for participating teams is listed below:
Group stage: $9 million for all participating teams
Last 16: $13 million per team
Quarterfinals: $17 million per team
Fourth place team: $25 million
Third place team: $27 million
Runner up: $30 million
Winner: $42 million
Meanwhile, another $1.5 million will be given to each team that qualified, to prepare for the tournament which starts in November.
